BENGTSSON (1997) erläutert: "The species name refers to the Latin word ambustum (to burn) alluding to the appearence of the moth."

Nach der [Fauna Europaea] kommt die Art in Griechenland vor. Locus typicus ist "Greece, Ipiros, Katara Pass, 1500-1700 m" (BENGTSSON 1997).
