Etymologie (Namenserklärung)
NUPPONEN & al. (2000: 12): “The name brunneofasciella alludes to a broad, transversal brown fascia on the forewing of the moth.”
Faunistik
Die Art wurde nach einem einzelnen Weibchen aus dem südlichen Ural-Gebirge beschrieben. NUPPONEN (2005) meldet ein zweites Weibchen vom identischen Fundort: "Material. 1 ♀ Russia, 50°45’ N 54°28’ E, Orenburg oblast, Pokrovka village 20 km S, Schibendy valley, 220 m, 30.VIII.2000, K. Nupponen leg. In coll. T. & K. Nupponen. Remarks. A second specimen of this taxon was found from the type locality. The moth was discovered sitting under a rock in a very warm evening just before sunset. A late date of capture might indicate that the taxon has two generations."

Die Art wurde nach einem einzigen ♀ beschrieben. NUPPONEN & al. (2000: 11-12) informieren: “Holotype: ♀ (Fig. 18): Russia, southern Urals, 50°40'N 54°26'E, 220 m, Orenburg oblast, Pokrovka village 20 km S, Schibendy valley, 03.-07.VI.1998, leg. J. Junnilainen. Genitalia slide: K. Nupponen prep. no. 2/14.II.1999. In coll. J. Junnilainen.”
