In der Erstbeschreibung wird eine Beziehung zu Artemisia absinthium (Echter Wermut, Echt-Wermut, Wermutkraut) vermutet - dies war falsch.
Parasitoid
Ein geschlüpfter Parasitoid aus der Zucht von Sybille Przybilla ging an Herrn H.-P. Tschorsnig, der ihn freundlicherweise bestimmte.
Ergebnis: (Diptera, Tachinidae). Ligeria angusticornis (Loew, 1847)

Faunistik
Nach GAEDIKE & HEINICKE (1999) in Deutschland nur mit Angaben von vor 1980 aus Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen bekannt. Der Art wurde damals die falsche K+R-Nummer zugeordnet (5505 statt 5512). Da ein Fehler selten alleine kommt wurde im neuen "Verzeichnis der Schmetterlinge Deutschlands" von GAEDIKE et al. (2017) nicht der Name beibehalten und die K+R-Nummer korrigiert, sondern die K+R-Nummer blieb erhalten und bekam jetzt den dazu passenden, ganz ähnlichen Namen, Merrifieldia spicidactyla. Jenes Lavendeltier kam aber in Deutschland nie vor, die Angaben gehören zur jetzt in der Liste fehlenden 5512 W. spilodactylus. Aktuelle Angaben zu W. spilodactylus scheint es aus Deutschland aber nicht mehr zu geben.
